14 February 2020, from Athletics NI<\/em><\/p>\n\n It was another fantastic night of racing at the Armagh International Road Races organised by Armagh AC yesterday. As always, there were a vast number of fast times, with around 139 Men hitting a sub 15 minute time in the 5k, 52 women hitting sub 10 minutes in the Women\u2019s 3k and another 21 men reaching sub 9 minutes in the Men\u2019s 3k.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n In the Women\u2019s 3k event, the NI & Ulster team finished in 4th<\/sup> <\/span>place overall with 95 points. Letterkenny AC\u2019s Nakita Burke was the first NI & Ulster women across the line in 14th<\/sup> <\/span>place overall and a PB of <\/span>9:28<\/a>, followed by Beechmount Harriers\u2019 Sarah Lavery in 34th<\/sup> <\/span>overall and a time of <\/span>9:45<\/a>. Next for the team was North Down Ac\u2019s Rachel Gibson who finished in a time of <\/span>9:53<\/a> <\/span>in 47th<\/sup> <\/span>place overall.<\/p>\n In the age categories, East Down AC\u2019s Catherine O\u2019Connor was the 2nd<\/sup> <\/span>F35 in a time of <\/span>10:14<\/a>, while Finn Valley AC\u2019s Jane Halloran claimed the F50 top spot in a time of <\/span>11:57<\/a>. The Junior ladies shone in the B age category, with Willowfield Harriers\u2019 Kirsti Foster finishing in a time of <\/span>10:00<\/a>, which was a PB of 43 seconds for the 14 year old. In 2nd<\/sup> <\/span>place was City of Lisburn AC\u2019s Victoria Lightbody who finished in a PB time of <\/span>10:19<\/a> <\/span>followed by her club mate, Katie McCleery who finished in a PB time of <\/span>10:24<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the Men\u2019s 5k race, the NI & Ulster Men\u2019s team secured 160 points to finish in 4th<\/sup> <\/span>place overall, with St Malachy AC\u2019s Ben Branagh leading the team in a time of <\/span>14:11<\/a>. Second in for the team, was Newcastle AC\u2019s Patrick McNiff who finished in <\/span>14:24<\/a> <\/span>in 58th<\/sup> <\/span>place overall, followed by Springwell Running Club\u2019s Neil Johnston who finished in <\/span>14:33<\/a> <\/span>in 69th<\/sup> <\/span>place overall and City of Derry Spartans\u2019 JP Williamson who finished in 106th<\/sup> <\/span>place in a time of <\/span>14:46<\/a>.<\/p>\n Among the local runners, Newcastle AC\u2019s Ryan Forsyth was the first across the line in a time of <\/span>13:58<\/a>, while City of Lisburn AC\u2019s Chris Madden finished in 52nd<\/sup> <\/span>place in a time of <\/span>14:22<\/a>.<\/p>\n Acorns AC\u2019s Matthew Neill claimed the title in the Men\u2019s 3k race, finishing in a time of <\/span>8:37<\/a>, followed by Letterkenny AC\u2019s Danny Mooney, who came 2nd<\/sup> <\/span>in <\/span>8:41<\/a> <\/span>and Annadale Striders\u2019 Eskander Turki finished 3rd<\/sup> <\/span>in a time of <\/span>8:41<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the age category events for the 3k, Neill Weir (Willowfield Harriers) claimed 1st<\/sup> <\/span>place for the M40 category in a time of <\/span>8:58<\/a>. For the M45, Martin McKenna (Armagh AC) took the win in <\/span>9:33<\/a>, while Glaslough Harrier\u2019s Declan McNally won the M55 in <\/span>11:47<\/a>. Norman Mawhinney (Scrabo Striders) won the M60 category in <\/span>11:07<\/a>, with Paul Elliot (Beechmount Harriers) winning the M65 category in <\/span>10:17<\/a> <\/span>and North Down AC\u2019s Terry Eakin winning the M70 category in <\/span>11:39<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Junior men\u2019s A category title went to Beechmount Harriers\u2019 JJ Gracey who finished in <\/span>8:43<\/a>, followed by St Malachys AC\u2019s Adam Ferris in 2nd<\/sup> <\/span>in <\/span>8:44<\/a> <\/span>and North Belfast Harriers\u2019 Matthew Lavery in 3rd<\/sup> <\/span>place in <\/span>8:45<\/a>. For the younger, B age group, Springwell Running Club\u2019s Ryan Smith came 2nd<\/sup> <\/span>in a time of <\/span>9:13<\/a>, followed by North Belfast Harrier\u2019s Luke Kelly in 3rd<\/sup> <\/span>in <\/span>9:18<\/a>.<\/p>\n
