The Waterside Half Marathon, incorporating the NI & Ulster Half Marathon Championship took place on Sunday 1st<\/sup> September with almost 1500 runners taking on the challenge.\u00a0 Thankfully the heavy rain stopped in time for the race start leaving bright, if blustery conditions for a couple of hours before a few light showers appeared to dampen the end of the race.<\/p>\n
In a very competitive race, it was Gideon Kimosop (1Zero1 Athletes) who won in a time of 1.06.47 with Kyle Doherty (City of Derry Spartans) second in 1.08.34 and Declan Reed (City of Derry Spartans) completing the podium with a time of 1.08.35.<\/p>\n
The ladies race saw favourite Anne Marie McGlynn (Letterkenny AC) in an impressive 1.16.58 with Sinead Lambe (Donore Harriers AC) second with 1.22.53 and Gemma McDonald (Ballycastle Runners) third in 1.27.06.<\/p>\n
Springwell RC was represented by 41 members with Hugh Boyle producing another impressive performance of 1.26.21 to win the M65 category and Steven Magill a 1.24.53 to claim 3rd<\/sup> place in the M45 category.<\/p>\n
