Scrabo Striders Success at The Ultimate Ultra

(Gavin McDonnell, Graeme McGowan, Liam Rodger, Garry Cavill)

Graeme McGowan from local running club Scrabo Striders secured 1st place in the 2019 “Ultimate Ultra” 50km last weekend. This is a series of three races on track, road and trail promoted and organised by Atlas Running. The final event took place on the trails of the Castle Ward Estate, Strangford in warm and sunny conditions, so athletes looked forward to the forest sections to cool down.

Also taking part were from Scrabo were Gavin McDonnell, Liam Rodger and Garry Cavill who all completed their 5 x 10km loops to get the distance. Garry took 1st place in the Male 60 category while his son Matthew ran one of the 10km loops as part of the “pop up” run available to supporters and spectators. Congratulations guys.
