At NiRunning we have pulled together a team of people who have extensive  experience working within the Running World. We hope to bring you regular, relevant and really interesting blogs, videos, top-tips and articles to do with EVERYTHING running! Over the next few days we are going to introduce you to that team.

Claire McBride (Wilson) is a physiotherapist with Pure Physio Clinic and member of Ballydrain Harriers AC.

Claire graduated from The Robert Gordon University Aberdeen with BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and gained initial clinical experience through the NHS in Belfast.  She then worked for the next 5 years in a Belfast based Private Physiotherapy Practice where she gained experience in musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation as a Senior Physiotherapist. Claire joined Pure Physio Clinic in 2014, and immediately felt back home as this is where she worked as a fitness instructor in La Mon Country Club many years ago!

Claire has undertaken extensive post graduate training over the years, including the management of Spinal Dysfunction, Musculoskeletal and Sports injuries, Pilates, Acupuncture, and Women’s Health (Incontinence) ante natal and post-natal management.
Claire has taught Pilates classes and one to one Pilates training since 2010, and  has completed various specialised Pilates courses including Pilates for runners. She is a fully trained Pilates Instructor.
Claire has also undergone further development in a wide variety of musculoskeletal courses focusing on  sporting injuries and rehabilitation of the spine, hip and groin, the knee and ankle.

She attended the 2nd world congress of sports physical therapy in 2017, which was focused on optimal loading (of muscles, tendons, ligaments and bone) and has recently attended an update on this topic presented by Dr Phil Glasgow. This has enabled Claire to provide the most up to date evidence based treatment and rehabilitation of running and sports injuries.
She has recently updated her knowledge on tendinopathy and  strength and conditioning for recreational and professional athletes. Claire enjoys maintaining her continuing professional development every year.

Let’s not forget her enthusiasm for her beloved foam roller… in which she presents talks and demonstrations for local running and cycling clubs.

Claire enjoys running and has been a member of the Ballydrain Harriers and Athletics Club since 2012, in the first 5 years of her membership she was a committee member and had a role as social secretary.

Claire enjoys skiing holidays which she looks forward to every year, and in preparation for this she increases her focus on strength and conditioning training along with some “fair weather (treadmill) running”.

Claire is a Chartered Physiotherapist, and is a member of the CSP, and HCPC.
