View from the HILL

Tuesday saw some fantastic performances at the head of the field that made its way up the infamous Mill Hill Mile, finishing at the summit in Castlewellan. It was great to see Patrick McNiff take the win, confirming his return from serious knee surgery.
The performance that really caught my eye was that of East Down AC and founding member, Joe Quinn. The hill is a brute and being 70+ would persuade most not to tackle it. As those of us who know Joe are aware, Joe has much more adversity than age, distance and gravity to overcome. Yet he does not allowed it to stop him.
It was truly amazing to see Joe complete the mile, cheered on by members of his club 50+ year his junior.
Knowing Joe, he will not be for hanging up the trainers either!
